Ballard Street Poetry Journal

Letter from the Editor

While putting together the summer issue we’ve gone through some changes and more are coming. In some ways this reflects in the work of some of our contributors: “this time, Missoula,” by Josh Thompson and “Fall” by Melissa Guillett. Keeping our journal going has been a challenge, sometimes wonderful, sometimes joyless; waiting to run away, wanting to forget it’s there.

Although I am not running away, I am pleased to announce that Assistant Editor Jenith Charpentier is taking the helm as editor of BSPJ. We also have a new Assistant Editor, Kristina England. Since the conception of the journal I have imagined BSPJ slowly growing into something bigger outside of a print and on-line journal. We published our first chapbook this year, “This Language River,” by Elaine Bentley Baughn, a poet whose work has graced these pages frequently including this one.

I would also like to welcome Lea C. Deschenes, poet, wordsmith, and web design extraordinaire. Lea is taking over our website over the next few months and we’re excited to see what she’ll bring to our readers around the world.

Please enjoy the poems featured in this issue. We are proud to publish them and I look forward to future issues of BSPJ. We hope you will too.
